About Wyvern Meadery
What this is
Wyvern Meadery is a free website for people who make mead at home. It has a batch calculator, a library of in-depth guides, tools to track your batches, and a place to share recipes.
Why we built it
We make mead ourselves and wanted real numbers when planning a batch: gravity, ABV, nutrient schedules and pH, in whatever units we happened to be using. Most tools we found were generic brewing calculators. This one is built for mead.
How the calculations work
The calculator uses published winemaking and mead-making methods, including Scott Laboratories' yeast nutrient guidance and the TOSCA 2.0 nutrient schedule. The guides explain the reasoning behind each figure so you can check it yourself.
What this isn't
This is not a shop. We don't sell mead or take orders, and we aren't sponsored by or affiliated with any brand mentioned on the site. Brands appear only as plain facts. The site is funded by advertising on the guides.
